Newly refurbished Rev Dr Stanley Abeysekera Sports Complex cum Auditorium at St Joseph’s College reopened cer

The newly refurbished Rev Dr Stanley Abeysekera Sports Complex cum Auditorium at St Joseph’s College – Colombo 10 was reopened ceremoniously on the 06th of November 2021, by the Chief Guest – Mr Sanjeev Gardiner ( Honorary Lay Trustee of the Sir Chittampalam A. Gardiner Trust), on the invitation of Rev Fr Ranjith Andradi – Rector. Also present were the priestly community of the College, and a number of students and parents.

The occasion was further embellished by the fact that it marked the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Complex and the 125th anniversary of the establishment of the College.

The restored complex will have the space and resources to host a plethora of activities in a more seamless and efficient manner, showcasing the brilliance and uniqueness of the College’s brand of academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities. It is understood that this much- needed renovation will preserve the complex for aeons to come, and more importantly, stay true to its primary goal of augmenting the learning and performing components of students, as envisioned by Rev Dr Stanley Abeysekera in 1996.

The complex overhaul is part of an ambitious redevelopment project in view of the College’s quasquicentennial anniversary, which aims to transform, invigorate, and enliven spiritual, physical, and academic spaces therein.
