Smart phones detrimental to children, if misused: Central Province Governor

Parents have taken the liberty to present smart cell phones to their children for convenience, but they do not understand the detrimental nature of such phones in the hands of children, if they are not used properly, Central Province Governor Lalith U. Gamage said recently.

Smart phones can be harmful to children, if they are not taught how to use these devices properly.

The Governor made these observations at the launch of the official guidelines for the protection of children at the Children’s Development Centre, which was held virtually.

The Governor also added that it is both the responsibility of the tutor and the parents to work towards this end.

The Save the Children Fund offered technical and financial support to establish a national 12 point principles system for children.

The launch of the 12 point principles was during the establishment of the first formative period development centre.

The formation of the child’s mind is not only a concern for parents but for all who care for children the Governor said.
