Elders in need of help

The Marc sri Home in Kalutara which houses around 60 destitute and homeless persons, including children, adults and the disabled, is in need of help.

Fr Christopher Prasanna, in charge of the Marc sri mission, said that the home is short of funds as its main funding source - the church - has been closed for several months. The home was run from collections received as offerings during sunday services. But with lockdowns and people keeping away from attending services, funds have dried up. Meals provided by familes and friends to celebrate birthdays or in remembrance of the dead have also ceased. The home needs Rs 33,500 for food a day: Rs7,000 for breakfast, Rs15,000 for lunch, Rs3,500 for tea and Rs8,000 for dinner.

Help can be provided by sponsoring an inmate, supplying provisions or settling bills, or by volunteering service.
