Singapore to launch Vaccinated Travel Lanes with Sri Lanka

Singapore will launch Vaccinated Travel Lanes (VTL) with Sri Lanka from December, allowing quarantine-free travel for fully vaccinated travellers between the two countries.

The VTL with Sri Lanka will commence from December 16, along with the facilitation for four other countries: Cambodia, Fiji, the Maldives and Turkey. The applications for the Vaccinated

Travel Pass (VTP) will open on December 9, the Singapore Multi-ministry Taskforce announced today. For Thailand, the VTL with Singapore will kick off from December 14 and the VTP applications for short-term and long-term pass holders will start on December 7.

VTLS will also be launched with India, Indonesia, Malaysia (both land and air), Finland and Sweden from November 29, 2021, while VTLS with Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates from December 6, 2021 are underway.

Multi-ministry Taskforce shared with its local media that returning Singapore citizens and permanent residents, who are fully vaccinated, are not required to apply for VTP to make use of the VTL. However, it said that travellers intending to travel from Singapore to VTL countries/regions are advised to check the prevailing entry requirements of the destination.

Furthermore, travellers under the VTLS are not required to serve Stay-home Notice (SHN) on arrival in Singapore either. Instead, they will have to produce a negative pre-departure test taken within two days prior to departure and undergo a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test upon arrival. Singapore currently has VTLS with 13 countries and regions: Australia, Brunei, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Republic of Korea, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.
