How safe are LP gas cylinders?

According to ex- Director of Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) Mr. Thushan Gunawardena the recent change in the composition of gas (considerably high proportion of Propane and less Butane) inside the cylinder has made the usage not safe at all and is the cause for the explosion of cylinders that is taking place on and off. But Litro Marketing Director Janaka Pathirana has denied the allegations. To put the consumers at ease, I suggest that we bring both parties together and sort this out once and for all and then the truth will emerge. Dr. (Ms) Siddhika G Senaratne, Director General of Sri Lanka Standard Institution (SLSI) should also join to make her contribution in order to find the right solution as we the consumers are on pins until we are assured of 100% safety regarding the use of this LPG cylinder.
