Chamber Academy discussion and overview on Data Protection Bill today

The Chamber Academy, the knowledge arm of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Information and Communication Agency (ICTA), will be hosting a timely webinar on the Data Protection Bill today, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, via Zoom.

The webinar is sponsored by Hutchison Telecommunications Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd and London Stock Exchange Group – Sri Lanka.

The discussion will be based on the proposed personal data protection bill, defining measures to protect personal data of individuals held by banks, telecom operators, hospitals and other personal data aggregating and processing entities formulated by the Legal Draftsman’s Department.

The expert panel will include ICTA General Counsel Jayantha Fernando, Dialog Axiata PLC Manager Regulatory, Group Legal and Regulatory Shenuka Jayalath, Attorney-at-law and privacy professional, Drafting Committee Member Sanduni Wickramasinghe, SLASSCOM CEO and Board Member Jehan Perinpanayagal and ICTA Director Industry Development Chiranthi Balapatabendi.

The session will be moderated by ICTA Legal Officer Thanusshi Dissanayake.

The discussion will be followed by an interactive question and answer session.
